Neapolis 2008

I was once a Neapolis festival. I do not remember what year it was, but I can think of now Naples and its beauty, its pizza so good, especially the Arena Flegrea where the festival took place. I saw Massive Attack thanks to a gift from my friend fattomi Adina in those days I knew little, but he quickly realized my passion for music.
This year the event will be held on three evenings to show overseas. Thursday 17, Wednesday 23 and Thursday, July 24.
The line-up, diverse but coherent, includes international superstars such as REM, Massive Attack, Editors and new certainties as Baustelle, the stainless Elio e le Storie Tese reunion and two exceptional like those of Sixpence None The Richer and Raiz with Almamegretta. The program for July 17 and Massive Attack + Almamegretta Raiz; 23 is the time of REM, Editors and These New Puritans; 24 will play on stage Elio e le Storie Tese , Baustelle and Creeper Lagoon. Tickets are respectively 25, 30 and 15 euro (plus pre-sale rights), it is possible to subscribe for 23 and 24 July at a cost of 40.00 (always + ddp).
For myself I would go until 17 July for Massive Attack and Raiz.
The other day does not inspire me. Last REM album I do not like ... I find it very innovative and flat! And Helium, Baustelle and Bluvertigo are not just for me.

The time has come ...
for too long been fans of indie-rock Italians are orphans of a festival devoted entirely to this musical genre. always relegated to the background profile events as strictly commercial, or forced to shoulder to Artists più o meno conosciuti, i gruppi indipendenti soffrono di un ambiente musicale incapace di dare il giusto spazio a proposte veramente nuove e vivaci. Una situazione che pare destinata a trasformarsi. E’ in arrivo, infatti, “Pop Circus. A Midsummer Day Of Indie Music Extravaganza” il primo festival musicale indipendente completamente made in Italy. Ispirato ai suoi fratelli maggiori di tutta Europa, l’evento si terrà il 5 luglio presso Le Jardin Au Bord Du Lac all’ Idroscalo di Milano. Tra gli ospiti che al momento hanno confermato la loro partecipazione: Rakes , Maccabees e Good Shoes . Il festival punta a become a real showcase of independent Italian music scene, opening a road that, hopefully, will in future be increasingly popular with similar events.

Looking forward to seeing you in Rome on July 18 at the Hippodrome of the Capannelle Massive Attack reveal details on the upcoming yet untitled new album. Horace Andy was to reveal and collaborator of the duo. The following '100Th Window 'in 2003 will have as guest exceptional Damon Albarn, Tunde Adebimpe of TV On The Radio and magical Hope Sandoval and Liz Fraser (the extraordinary voice of Cocteau Twins, pop cult band of "dream" of the channel. Her ethereal vocals and evocative blend well with the dark rhythmic base, embellishing four tracks, including the excellent single "Teardrop", which from this sort of "dreaming-dub" is intended to remain for years the undisputed masterpiece) .
Massive are among the most interesting band on the British scene. They helped launch the trip-hop, forging a disturbing soundtrack of life in the metropolis.

I've seen them twice live. One in Naples, Neapolis Festival (Adina my friend gave me the ticket knowing when I wanted to see them live) and then to Rome Rock Festival (Capannelle Racecourse) where there was a guest star Liz Fraser ... a sight to thrill! A voice that makes me the creeps live.
We'll see this year? Who knows ...
